RF amplifier resources
Model-specific datasheets, practical specification guides and the information you need for a focused engineering inquiry.
Start with the correct model and revision
These documents are matched by exact model number. Compare the revision and operating conditions before using a value in a design. The full PDF remains the source for detailed notes, drawings, connector orientation and optional functions.

Understand the output-power rating
Psat: saturated output power describes operation in saturation. It does not establish distortion-free output for a modulated signal.
P1dB: the output level at which gain is compressed by 1 dB relative to the small-signal gain. Check whether the quoted value is minimum or typical and note the test conditions.
CW versus pulse: continuous-wave and pulsed ratings apply to different operating conditions. For pulses, review peak power, pulse width, repetition rate and duty cycle together.
Example: HD31217 V2.2 lists 25 W minimum CW at Psat and 12 W minimum CW at P1 dB. These are different operating points, not interchangeable ratings.
Gain & signal quality
Gain is the ratio of output power to input power, expressed in dB. Gain flatness describes variation across the specified frequency range under the stated test conditions.
For signal quality, review IMD, harmonics and spurious output separately. Preserve tone level, tone spacing and output-power conditions when comparing data.
Minimum, typical & maximum
Keep the datasheet’s labels with every value. A typical result is not a guaranteed minimum or maximum.
Check temperature, supply voltage, impedance and frequency conditions. A value stated at one test condition should not be assumed to apply across every operating condition.
Review the complete installation requirements
- Power: supply range, current consumption and power-up or shutdown requirements.
- Cooling: heatsink, airflow and operating case-temperature limits.
- RF connections: connector type, cable loss, impedance and load mismatch.
- Control interface: pin assignments, logic levels and optional monitoring signals.
- Mechanical fit: enclosure dimensions, mounting-hole positions and connector clearances.
- Protection: input limits, VSWR conditions and any time limits. Protection is not permission for unlimited overload operation.
- Environment: standard ratings versus optional environmental qualifications.
Make your next inquiry more useful
Include the model number or operating frequency range, System/Module preference, output power and rating definition, signal type, pulse details where relevant, supply and cooling constraints, interface requirements, quantity and target schedule.
For a document request, specify whether you need the datasheet, mechanical drawing, interface pinout or clarification of a particular specification. Availability is confirmed by the sales team.
Answers for your next design decision
Use the document for the exact part number and confirm the applicable revision and ordered options. A similarly named model can have different ratings or interfaces.
Send the exact model number through the form below. Do not use a neighboring model’s data as a replacement.
Document contents vary. Use drawings and measured curves only when they are supplied for the exact model; request additional information when it is absent.
Yes. Share your installation, power, cooling, interface and signal requirements so the available configurations can be reviewed.
